Payment of Rates and Other Charges

Payment of Rates, Water Charges and other services can be made by the following:
  • In person by calling at the Council Chambers, Hamilton Street, Walcha, during normal Office hours, 8:30am to 5:00pm. Payment can be made by Cash, cheque or EFTPOS (Debit Cards only). Council does NOT accept payment by credit card.
  • Post - please make all cheques payable to:

  • Direct Deposit - You can pay directly into our bank account, either on the Internet or at the Bank in person.  Please put your assessment number or account number in the payment reference section.  Our account details are:  BSB:  082-885 Account No.:   509987055.
  • Australia Post Billpay - In person at any Post Office, by phone on 131816 or through www.postbillpay.com.au using your notice with Billpay Code & Reference.  Payment methods accepted are cash, cheque, EFTPOS and credit card.

To ensure that your payment is applied against the correct account it would be of assistance if you include the relevant Notice or invoice with your payment. Receipts will be posted upon request.

In addition to the above, ratepayers and residents can also elect to use Council's Direct Debit System. The Direct Debit Request Form is to be used when you want Council to deduct monies from your bank account for rates and water. These deductions can be scheduled for any weekday and the deduction frequency is flexible in that they can be made weekly, fortnightly, monthly or quarterly.

Financial Difficulty:  Any Ratepayer having difficulty meeting their Rate commitment should contact Council's Rates Officer, as early as possible, who will endeavour to make arrangements which will assist you wherever possible.
