At Council's Ordinary Meeting held on 18 December 2019, Council adopted the Walcha Community Participation Plan 2020 as per Resolution 104/20192020. The Draft Walcha Community Participation Plan was publicly advertised and submissions invited during the period 15 January 2020 to 13 February 2020. As no written submissions were received it was formally adopted on 14 February 2020, at which time it came into effect.
It has been prepared as per the provisions of Division 2.6 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 which outlines the purpose and how a local strategic planning statement is to be made.
The Walcha Community Participation Plan 2020 sets out how and when Council will engage with the community when undertaking its town planning functions and applies to the entire Walcha Local Government Area (LGA). The level and extent of community participation will vary depending on the scope of the proposal under consideration and the potential impact of the decision. The community includes anyone who is affected by the planning system and includes individuals, community groups, Aboriginal communities, bodies representing a range of interests, businesses, Local Government and State and Commonwealth Government agencies.
