There are several Secondary Day and Boarding Schools located in Armidale, which is only 63 km from Walcha, and Tamworth, 93 km from Walcha. There is a daily bus service that leaves Walcha at 7.15am and returns about 5.00pm for children to attend all schools in Armidale. In Armidale the boarding schools include New England Girls School, Presbyterian Ladies College and The Armidale School. In Tamworth the boarding schools include Calrossy Girls School and Farrer Agricultural High School (boys only).
TAFE Campuses are located in both Tamworth and Armidale.
University of Armidale (UNE) offers a broad range of Tertiary educational courses and facilities.
