Walcha Council Community Care provide a Meals on Wheels home delivery service to the residents of Walcha. Meals on Wheels is more than just a meal, with volunteers and staff delivering a nutritious meal and a chance to say hello and check that all is well.
The service is for people who are frail aged or people with disabilities and their carers. Some people receive the service temporarily while others are on a more permanent basis which allows them to remain living in their own homes.
Clients must be assessed before receiving the Meals on Wheels service. The service is not means tested. The client pays for the meal package that they order. Current prices and further information can be sought by contacting our WCCC Coordinator.
We cater for all special needs such as diabetics, low fat, salt free, etc. Meals are prepared and cooked in Walcha. The meals are then picked up from the kitchen at 12 noon, by our volunteers, and delivered to our clients. Volunteers are always required to continue this vital service for the people in our community.
